Sprite Retires from it's iconic familiar green bottle

Aug 02, 2022

Its been over 60 years since sprite has been launched. never have the ever changed the signature green bottle of theirs, for the first time they decide to replace with a more sustainable clear white bottle which is more recyclable, the Coca Cola company confirms in an interview.

“Sprite is shifting all of (their) plastic PET (polyester) packaging from its signature green colour to clear, beginning Aug. 1,” the release stated. “Although green PET is recyclable, the recycled material is more often converted into single-use items like clothing and carpeting that cannot be recycled into new PET bottles.”

Quoted in the company’s news release was Julian Ochoa, CEO

of R3CYCLE, who is working with Coca-Cola Consolidated to enable

bottle-to-bottle recycling.

“Taking colours out of bottles improves the quality of the recycled material,” Ochoa said. “When recycled, clear PET Sprite bottles can be remade into bottles, helping drive a circular economy for plastic.”

In addition to the bottle change, Sprite is introducing a “new visual identity system” that features a revamped logo and design to provide a “consistent look and voice around the world.”
